New in 2019: Direct train connection between Aachen and Maastricht

With the new train service, operated by Arriva, a direct train runs between the German city of Aachen and the Dutch province of Limburg. Since 2015 there has been no direct train between The Netherlands and Aachen. Travelers always had to change at Herzogenrath station.

Where previously the train ended in Heerlen, it is now extended to Maastricht, the provincial capital.

Aachen is the ideal station for residents of the Netherlands and Belgium to switch to DB Bahn's long-distance trains.

With the start of the new rail service, a part of the track has been provided with electrification. The aim is to double the tracks in the future. There are also plans for an intercity towards Cologne.
