Paris can be reached very quickly: from London you´re there in only 2 hours and 20 minutes! The Eurostar races through the French countryside at 300km/h and arrives at Paris Gare du Nord, in the heart of the city. Paris is the eternal attraction with all its sights and the overall romantic atmosphere. The Arc de Triomphe, Eiffel Tower, Notre Dame, Sacre Coeur, Pont Neuf, Place de Bastille.
The infinite metropolis that Paris has become over the years can be rediscovered again and again. Each district has its own character and each building has its own story. A district with an extra special character is for example Saint Germain in the center of Paris, where there are numerous restaurants.
Another district full of character is Montmartre, the artists' district, which is within walking distance of Paris Gare du Nord, built around the hill on which the Sacre Coeur stands. Butte aux Cailles is also very special and definitely worth a visit. This neighborhood used to be a village swallowed up by Paris over the years, but still retains a rural atmosphere. To get to this last district you need to get off at metro station Corvisart in the 13th arrondissement.
Sightseeing - Paris city trip
Eiffel Tower
The symbol of Paris. The tower can be climbed by foot or elevator. From the second floor there´s a magnificent view over the city already, but this only gets better the higher the elevator or stairs reach. Those who go to the second floor or the top of the Eiffel Tower pay a higher rate than those who only visit the second floor.
Opera Garnier
The largest opera building in the world, built in the 19th century and equipped with a beautiful and classic interior. Nowadays mainly ballet performances can be seen here.
Garden of Luxembourg
Large and quiet city park right in the center of Paris.
Arc de Triomphe
At the end of the Champs-Elysées, there´s this impressive landmark that reaches at a height of 50 meters. It´s possible to climb to the top, which gives you a nice view of this city of romance.
Notre Dame
The famous cathedral with two towers on Ile de la Cité in the Seine.
Parc de la Villette
Parc de la Villette is the largest park in Paris. The park is home to the Grande Halle, a concert hall that attracts no less than 15,000 visitors.
Pere Lachaise
Père Lachaise the largest cemetery in Paris (and the largest green area in the city). Famous personalities are buried here, including Jim Morrison, Edith Piaf, Baron Haussmann, Frédéric Chopin and Molière.
Place de la Bastille
This historic place is where the French Revolution began.
Pont Neuf
The Pont Neuf, which connects Ile de la Cité with the "mainland" of Paris, was completed in 1607 and is the oldest remaining bridge in Paris.
Sacre Coeur
A visit to the bright white Sacre Coeur shouldn´t be missed during a city trip to Paris. After the tough climb (can also be done with a tourist tramway) there´s a beautiful view over Paris and you can see how big the city really is. Up to the horizon there are buildings.
Tour Montparnasse
The Tour Montparnasse is one of the few skyscrapers outside the business center of Paris. The Tour Montparnasse literally towers above everything else. It´s possible to visit the top floor. From the top of the 210 meter high tower there´s a fantastic view over Paris.
Public transport - Paris city trip
Public transport in Paris is excellent. All corners of the city, including the center, are easily accessible by metro or RER train. The bus transport is also excellent. Keep in mind that there´s a busy rush hour, which leads to high metro and bus fares. A public transport card such as the Paris Visite for several days is quickly cheaper than single tickets. With the Paris Visite 5 zones you can also travel to Disneyland Paris. The Paris Visite can be purchased with HappyRail.
