Taking your bike to/from Great Britain
Via Hoek van Holland – Harwich with Stena Line, one-way from €35, bike transport Hoek van Holland – Harwich €10.
Train Harwich – London, bike transport free of charge*
- via Europoort – Hull
- via IJmuiden – Newcastle
*TIP: On the direct boat train from Harwich to London, bikes are not allowed from Monday to Friday because the train arrives in London during the morning rush hour. Advice: Take the stopping train Harwich – Manningtree, change on the same platform and continue with the direct IC (with bike reservation) to London. These bike reservations can be made at least 24 hours in advance by calling National Rail yourself.
Within Great Britain
For most local and regional trains reservations are not possible; each train takes 2 to 6 bikes. Bike transport is not allowed on local and regional trains arriving in or departing from London during peak hours (Monday to Friday from 06.00 to 10.00 and from 15.30 to 19.00).
On long-distance trains, bike reservations are mandatory. These cannot be made from outside Great Britain but can be reserved free of charge at any ticket office shortly before travel.
The night trains London–Scotland also carry bikes, reservations are required.
