How can I book tickets?
All individual tickets can be booked via our train planner. Booking in advance is recommended, especially during peak season. For most European train trips longer than one day we recommend an Interrail Pass, which you can purchase along with all Norwegian reservations in our train planner, choose "Reservations".
You can also book the Bergen Line as part of one of our rail tours through Norway, which also include the spectacular Flåm Railway. All tickets and seat reservations are arranged by us, as well as comfortable hotels in Bergen, Vatnahalsen and Oslo.

The Bergen Line journey usually takes around seven hours, making it an ideal day trip or a scenic route for travelers wanting to discover Norway’s impressive landscapes. Several trains run daily throughout the year. Timetables can be found via our trip planner.
The Bergen Line is a journey for every season, each with its own charm. Summer offers lush greenery and blooming flowers, while winter transforms the landscape into a fairytale snowy wonderland.

Whether you’re a nature lover, passionate about photography or simply seeking an unforgettable travel experience: this iconic train ride should not be missed on your Norway trip. We recommend combining it with the connecting Flåm Railway.

How can I book tickets?
Individual tickets can be booked online or at the station. Note that reservations are mandatory and can sell out quickly. If you’re also traveling with other trains, such as the connecting Bergen Line, we recommend an Interrail Pass, which is almost always cheaper than individual tickets. An additional reservation is required for this.
The Flåm Railway is included in our rail tour Bergen Line & Hurtigruten. Tickets and reservations for the Flåm Railway are included and arranged by us.
What are the trains like?
The trains have modern coaches with a rustic wooden interior. There is only one class (second class), with information screens, power sockets and large windows. Although reservations are mandatory, they are not tied to a specific seat or carriage, so you can sit where you like.
Can I combine this with other activities?
Definitely! The Flåm Railway is part of the famous Norway in a Nutshell route from Bergen, including a spectacular boat trip across the Sognefjord to Flåm. From Myrdal you can combine the Flåm Railway with the impressive Bergen Line.
Flåm itself is a base for various activities, such as fjord cruises on the beautiful Sognefjord, hikes in the surrounding mountains and a visit to the Flåm Railway Museum. This way you can easily plan a full day trip around your Flåm Railway experience.
What is the best time to travel? Insider tips?
The Flåm Railway can be experienced all year round. The best time depends on your preferences:
