Express Intercity Premium (EIP) – High-speed trains

The EIP trains run up to 200 km/h between Polish cities such as Warsaw, Krakow, Poznań and Gdańsk.

They offer 1st and 2nd class, free wifi and a restaurant car.

Reservations are compulsory and the high-speed surcharge is included in the ticket.

2nd class: 2+2 seating, reclining seats, wifi, footrests, reading lights and luggage racks.

1st class: 2+1 seating, more space, including drinks and a light meal served at your seat.

Restaurant: Polish hot meals, snacks and drinks.

Poland EIP 1st class

 

Express Intercity (EIC / EC) – Fast long-distance trains
EIC/EC trains run up to 200 km/h within Poland and internationally (e.g. to Berlin). They stop less frequently than regular IC trains and always have a restaurant car.

Reservations are compulsory (also with Interrail).

2nd class: reclining seats in 6-seat compartments, wifi and power sockets.

Poland 2nd class

1st class: seats with more space, free hot drinks, water and snacks, compartment next to the restaurant car.

Restaurant: freshly prepared Polish dishes and snacks, served at the table or to take away.

Intercity (IC / EC) – Regular long-distance trains
Most long-distance trains in Poland are IC trains. They make more stops than EIC trains. International trains are called EC.

Reservations are compulsory.

Seats: 6-seat compartments (with reclining seats) or open coaches. Power sockets and wifi (mostly available).

Restaurant:
usually available (sometimes not on shorter routes).

TLK – Budget long-distance trains
TLK (Twoje Linie Kolejowe) are slower trains with more stops and lower prices.

No wifi and no restaurant car. Reservations are compulsory. Seats: usually similar to IC, sometimes with less legroom.

Regional trains
Regional trains differ per province and operator.

Modern trains often have wifi, power sockets and low-floor entry. Interrail pass is not always valid on regional trains – check the Interrail app.
Not valid? Tickets are cheap and can be bought at machines, ticket offices or on board.

Poland local train 2nd class

International Euronight night trains
Euronight (EN) night trains run e.g. from Warsaw/Krakow to Prague, Budapest, Vienna, Salzburg and Munich.

Reservations are compulsory. (bookable via our train planner, choose "Reservations").

2nd class seats: similar to IC/EIC compartments.

Couchettes: 4 or 6 berths per compartment, bedding included.

Sleeper cars: 1–3 berths per compartment, with washbasin. Deluxe cabins have private shower. Bedding and breakfast included.
