AVE - Info
General
The main domestic high speed route runs from Barcelona via Madrid to Seville and Malaga. Trains along this route operate every hour or even more frequent.
Most big cities in Spain are connected by 3 to 6 daily AVE or Alvia-trains over the ever-expanding high speed network. For all domestic high-speed services there is a check-in with luggage check at all stations.

Children up to 11 years travel half price.
Dogs
Dogs are taken as long they are on a leash and wear a muzzle. Dogs carried in a bench or bag travel for free, bigger dogs pay a quater of the fare of an adult.
Luggage
No luggage limit on board of AVE-trains. Small luggage can be stowed in the overhead luggage racks or under your seat, for larger cases there are luggage racks in the compartments and near the outside doors.
Boarding
There is a check-in and x-ray of your luggage at all AVE-stations. Be at the station at least 20 minutes before departure.
Discount cards
People over 60 years can buy a Tarjeta Dorada locally, which gives 25% to 40% over the full fare.
Interrail / Eurail
Interrail and Eurail are accepted on all AVE-services. Reservation is compulsory and the supplement is €10 for Turista and €25 in Preferente-class.

Business
The Preferente class onboard AVE-trains offers a comfortable and quiet working sphere. The AVE-lounge on Spanish stations is open for all Preferente-class passengers (except Promo-fares). More information: Business travel by train.
