Dutch Railway Strike: 28.05.2019

The Dutch railway has announced that they expect serious delays for train travellers throughout the whole country due to a nationwide railway strike. International trains will also suffer serious delays or not run at all.

Train travel to/from Belgium
Trains running between Maastricht and Visé and trains running between Roosendaal and Essen will not be operating in the Netherlands throughout May 28. However, trains will be running on the Belgian side of the line. Eurostar trains will terminate in Brussels and will not enter the Netherlands. The IC Brussel will terminate in Antwerp and will not enter the Netherlands. Thalys trains will also not be running in the Netherlands.

Train travel to/from Germany
The IC Berlin trains will terminate in Bad Bentheim and will not enter the Netherlands. Busses will travel from Amsterdam Central to Bad Bentheim to connect travellers. ICE trains will terminate in Emmerich and will not enter the Netherlands. Busses will travel from Amsterdam Central to Emmerich to connect travellers. Regional lines Groningen – Leer (bus), Hengelo – Bielefeld, Enschede – Münster/Dortmund, Venlo – Hamm and Maastricht – Herzogenrath will run on schedule.

Railtravelshop has contacted all customers whose bookings have been affected and provided information on alternate travel possibilities. Travelers who still choose to travel on May 28th: please take into account potential delays, cancelled trains, and the possibility of no connecting trains between international train exit terminals and home.
