Norway in a Nutshell & scenic rail journeys

Norway is home to some of Europe's most famous scenic railway routes. One of the classics is the Bergen Line between Oslo and Bergen, crossing forests, mountains and the spectacular Hardangervidda plateau before descending towards the west coast.

At Myrdal, you can transfer to the world-famous Flåm Railway. This spectacular branch line descends from the mountains to the village of Flåm, on the shores of the Aurlandsfjord, one of the branches of the Sognefjord.

From Flåm, many travellers continue by boat through the fjords to Gudvangen before returning by coach to Voss, creating the famous Norway in a Nutshell journey.

Bergen itself is an excellent starting point for fjord cruises and voyages with the famous Hurtigruten coastal service.
