Berlin

Berlin is a vibrant metropolis that fascinates from east to west. Since the reunification of the city in 1989, the city has been on the move and it doesn't seem to be stopping anytime soon. The city is bursting with energy and that´s contagious. Berlin has something to offer for everyone. If you're looking for history, you've come to the right place in the German capital. But if you're looking for a vibrant nightlife or you want to spend days shopping, Berlin is also the place to be.

Brandenburg Gate

The Brandenburg Gate is located at the end of Unter den Linden, Berlin's most famous street. It was once built as a symbol of peace and today it´s the symbol of the reunification of East and West Berlin/Germany.

Gedächtniskirche

This church is at the beginning of the Kurfürstendamm which was severely damaged during the Second World War and never repaired. Next to the ruin, which is a famous attraction nowadays, a new church has been built.

Kurfürstendamm

Berlin's famous promenade. The three kilometers long street is known for its many stores. This was the most important promenade of former West Berlin.

Alexanderplatz

Best known for being the main square of former East Berlin. In the middle of the square stands the Fernsehturm, which can be seen from all corners of Berlin and is a defining symbol of the city. The tower can be visited by tourists and offers a beautiful view over the entire city.

Checkpoint Charlie

Formerly the only checkpoint between East and West Berlin where foreigners could cross the border. Next to the checkpoint, which has remained intact, is a fascinating museum about the history of East and West Berlin. This is definitely worth a visit.

East Side Gallery

Over 1300 meters of Berlin Wall painted by artists, located between the Ostbahnhof and the Oberbaumbrucke.

Potsdamer Platz

This was once the central square of Berlin, but after the war it fell into disrepair. The Berlin Wall was built across the square. Nowadays attempts are made to restore the old character of the square.

Reichstag

The parliament building of Germany, located next to the new Berlin Hbf (the main station of Berlin). The park around the Reichstag is a pleasant place to be. The Reichstag can also be visited, but takes into account a limited number of places, so be sure to register early.

Charlottenburg Castle

Largest palace in Berlin, built in Prussian times.

Berlin Zoological Garden

One of the oldest zoos in the world. Located next to Berlin Zoo station and within walking distance of the Gedächtniskirche and the Kurfürstendamm.

Public transportation

Public transport in Berlin is excellent. Across the city, the s-Bahn skims between the main train station. Furthermore, all corners of the city are easily accessible by streetcar or bus.
