Day 1

Travel by Eurostar to Paris, then continue by TGV Lyria to Lausanne, arriving in the afternoon. Stay, for example, at Hotel Agora Swiss Night*** or Hotel Continental***, both close to the station.

Day 2

Travel along the shores of Lake Geneva to Montreux, then board the GoldenPass Express to Interlaken. Since December 2022, there is no longer a change of trains at Zweisimmen: the train automatically changes from narrow gauge to standard gauge, making this a unique railway experience. Continue from Interlaken Ost to the Jungfrau region. Stay, for example, at Hotel Silberhorn*** in Lauterbrunnen, or in one of the nearby villages such as Grindelwald, Mürren (for example Hotel Alpenblick***) or Wengen (for example Hotel Regina***).

In the afternoon, you may wish to take an excursion to Mürren for magnificent views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 3

Travel on the Luzern–Interlaken Express, part of the GoldenPass Line, past crystal-clear mountain lakes and over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne. The train switches to rack-and-pinion operation to climb the pass.

In Lucerne, board the boat across Lake Lucerne to Flüelen. Enjoy the surrounding mountain scenery from the deck or the restaurant on board.

Continue on the Gotthard Panorama Express to Lugano in the Mediterranean region of Ticino. The train follows the historic Gotthard route, including the famous loops around Wassen. Stay, for example, at Hotel Federale***.

Day 4

From Lugano, travel by PostBus past the Italian lakes to Tirano. If the bus is fully booked, travel by train via Monza instead, including a scenic section along Lake Como.

In Tirano, board the Bernina Express, one of Switzerland's most spectacular panoramic railways, crossing the 2,328-metre Bernina Pass. Stay in Bergün, an authentic mountain village in Graubünden, for example at Hotel Weisses Kreuz*** or Hotel Ladina***, both close to the station.

Day 5

Travel on the Glacier Express, the world's slowest express train, crossing 291 bridges, passing through 91 tunnels and over the 2,033-metre Oberalp Pass to Zermatt. Stay, for example, at Hotel Alpenblick*** or Hotel Adonis***.

Day 6

Travel via Brig and the scenic Lötschberg route to Basel. Continue by TGV Lyria to Paris, then by Eurostar to London or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
