Lille is a city with a surprising historical center. The Grand Place radiates the same atmosphere that the central squares of Antwerp, Ghent, Bruges and Brussels also have. It´s lively and relaxed. There are numerous restaurants and cafes and around the square are streets with small stores. The further you walk out of the old center, the more you´re welcomed by neighborhoods with modern architecture.

Citadel

Pentagonal citadel, built in the 17th by order of Louis the 14th. The fortress closed to the public because the army still uses the building, but it´s very much recommended to have a look around.

Grand-Place

The central square with a number of special buildings built in Baroque style.

Public transport - City trip Lille

Public transport in Lille is excellent. All corners of the city, including the center, are easily accessible by bus or subway. From Lille's main train station, the center can be reached most quickly by metro.
