The Shongololo Express was in 2016 completely restored and refurbished, using the same materials as in Rovos Rail's 5-star trains. Two dining cars with 38 seats each. This means one seat per meal. The dishes on board mainly consist of traditional (South) African specialties. For breakfast, you can choose between a traditional English breakfast or a continental breakfast. The dining cars are air-conditioned. The dress code for the meals is casual. The dining car is a non-smoking area.

Gold Class

Double bed (190x190) or two single beds (190x75 cm per bed) with private shower/WC, air conditioning and safe. The space is 7 m2.

Emerald Class

Double bed (190x150 cm) or two single beds (190x75 cm) with private shower/WC, small sitting area, air conditioning, safe and hairdryer. The space is 10 m2.

Restaurants

Two dining cars with 38 seats each. This means that there is one seat per meal. Usually meals are served at the following times:

Breakfast: from 06.00 am to 08.00 am

Dinner: from 6 pm to 9.30 pm

The cuisine on board consists mainly of traditional (South) African specialties. If you follow a special diet, you can let us know. The meals will then, if possible, be adapted to your wishes. For breakfast you can choose between a traditional English breakfast or a continental breakfast.
