General

The Thalys is a high-speed service from Brussels, Amsterdam and Cologne/Essen to Paris; departing from Brussels every 30 minutes during peak hours (travel time from Brussels is 1h20min).

Between Amsterdam and Paris about 12 Thalys trains per day connect the capital of France with the capital of The Netherlands (travel time 3h18min) and between Cologne and Paris there are about 5 connections each day (travel time 3h26min) of which 3 trains run from/to Düsseldorf (3h53min) and Essen (4h25min).

Catering
For second class passengers there is a Bistro-coach available on each Thalys-service selling drinks, warm and cold dishes and snacks. For first class passengers a cold meal including drinks is included in the ticket. 

Wifi
Wifi is available for free.

Power sockets  
Available at all seats.

Children
Children up to 3 years travel for free when they don't need an own seat. There are special discounted fares for children from 4 up to 11 years. Baby changing facilities are located in the toilets of coaches 7, 17 and 27.

Dogs
Small dogs travelling in a bag or bench are taken for free. Larger dogs pay the special "Dog"-fare. Dogs must be kept on a leash and be muzzled all times. Guidance dogs are taken for free.

Luggage
Officially there is a luggage limit of two large suitcases per passengers with the height+width+length not larger than 158 cm and not heavier then 32 kg each, but in practice this isn't enforced.  There are luggage racks for big suitcases and backpacks near the entrance doors, for smaller bags there is space in the overhead luggage racks and under your seat. You've to label your bags, labels are available at all stations. Some items (firearms, gas holders and large knives) are prohibited on Thalys-services.

Boarding 
At the train stations of Paris, Lille and Brussels there is a check-in with ticket check and x-ray of your luggage, it's advisable to be at the train station 20 minutes before departure. At all other stations there is no check-in but doors will be closed 2 minutes before departure time so be in time at the station.

Discount cards  
Discount Cards like Railplus don't give a discount on Thalys-services.

Interrail / Eurail 
Passengers with a valid Interrail or Eurail-pass can use the special Pass-fare on Thalys-services. Second class pass holders pay €25 for a single journey, first class €35. When your Pass is covers only Netherlands, Belgium or France you don't need to buy a seperate ticket for the other countries, the Pass-fare is valid for the whole journey.

Business
The first class offers all the amenities needed for the business traveller to work and relax on board including special departure lounges, flexible fares and meals and wifi on board. The Thalys ThePass and TheCard-scheme offer benefits and special fares for business travellers.  See also Business travel by train.

At the station
Please note the check-in times at some stations (see boarding). All Thalys-stations offer waiting rooms and shops/restaurants for second class passengers. First class passengers can use the NS International-lounges at Amsterdam, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam. Holders of Thalys ThePass and TheCard can use the Thalys-lounge in Brussels, Cologne and Paris.

Amsterdam Centraal - Info

Railway station Amsterdam

Amsterdam Centraal is the name of the main station in Amsterdam and is located in the centre. You can walk from the station to the canals, the Dam and to other major attractions.

If you want to go to the Rijksmuseum or the Van Gogh museum which are located at the other side of the centre you can walk for of about 30 minutes or take a tram. You can also rent a bike.

Brussel Midi/Zuid - Info

Railway Station Brussels 

The Thalys and the Intercity arrive and depart from Brussels Midi/Zuid, the main station in Brussels. From here also the Eurostar to London departs and the ICE and Thalys to Cologne and Frankfurt. You can also take from here domestic trains to Bruges, Ghent and Ypres. 

Other major stations in Brussels are Brussels Centraal and Brussels Schuman. Brussels Centraal is the best station to get off if you want to visit the old city centre. You can walk to the main square and fine restaurants. Brussels Schuman is the railway station for the European Parliament.

Railway station Paris 

Paris Gare du Nord is one of the seven major stations in Paris. It is the departure station of the Thalys (to Brussels, Amsterdam, Cologne), Eurostar (to London) and TGV's to Lille and regional trains to Reims. You can walk from the station to Montmartre and the Sacre Couer (about 30 minutes)
