Day 1 Paris

The blue and gold of the legendary Venice Simplon-Oriënt-Express carriages welcomes you in the afternoon at Paris Gare de l'Est station. You´ll be escorted to your compartment where you can settle down in peace and prepare for dinner, one of the highlights of this trip. The four-course dinner will be served in one of the dining cars. You´ll spend the night on board of the train.

Day 2 Budapest

Breakfast is served in your private compartment. Via the beautiful Switzerland and Austria you travel to Hungary. After lunch on board you´ll arrive in Budapest in the afternoon. Transfer to your luxury hotel, the Hilton Hotel or similar, for dinner and overnight stay.

Day 3 Budapest

Breakfast at the hotel is followed by a city tour of beautiful Budapest, lunch at a local restaurant and a cruise on the Danube River. The districts of Buda and Pest are separated by the Danube. The city has a number of prominent buildings, such as the Parliament, St. Stephen's Basilica and the Castle Palace. The bathhouses aren´t only invigorating but also a feast for the eyes. Late in the afternoon the train leaves for Romania. Dinner and overnight stay on board of the train.

Day 4 Sinaia and Bucharest

Enjoy breakfast in your private compartment. The train arrives in the mountain town of Sinaia where you disembark after brunch to visit the beautiful Peles Castle, just like the first guests of the Orient Express in 1833. Later you´ll board the train again for a short ride to Bucharest. Upon arrival, a driver will be waiting for you for the transfer to your hotel, the Anthenée Palace Hilton or similar.

It´s clear to see that Bucharest has both wetter and oriental influences. There´s the immense parliament building, the largest building in Europe, and many churches, parks and French architecture. Dinner and overnight stay in Bucharest.

Day 5 Bulgaria

In the morning you get on the train again and travel to Bulgaria. In the afternoon you´ll make a stop in Varna, the maritime capital of Bulgaria, also known as the 'Pearl of the Black Sea'. Lunch and dinner will be served on board while you enjoy the view. Last night aboard the train.

Day 6 Istanbul

Early in the morning you drive into Turkey. After breakfast and a special Turkish inspired lunch you arrive in Istanbul and end your journey with the Venice Simplon-Oriënt-Express.
