Day 1
Travel by Eurostar and ICE to Berlin. Overnight stay near Berlin Hauptbahnhof.
Day 2
Continue by EuroCity train to Warsaw. There is the opportunity to enjoy lunch or dinner in the Polish restaurant carriage. Overnight stay near the central station.
Day 3
In the morning, travel by modern Intercity train to Vilnius. The journey takes you at a relaxed pace through north-eastern Poland. In the afternoon, arrive in Vilnius, the first of the three Baltic capitals. Vilnius boasts a magnificent Baroque Old Town, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Overnight stay at, for example, Comfort Hotel LT near the railway station.
Day 4
Free day in Vilnius. Explore the historic centre with its cathedral, Presidential Palace and the oldest university in Eastern Europe. Alternatively, take the train to Trakai (approx. 30 minutes), the former capital of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, and visit its beautiful island castle.
Day 5
Early departure to catch the direct train from Vilnius to Riga (departure 6.55 am). A recent addition to the timetable, this direct service has only operated since December 2023. Thanks to the early departure, you can already be enjoying a coffee in Riga by around 11.00 am. Latvia's capital offers a fascinating blend of architectural styles, from the UNESCO-listed Hanseatic Old Town and the world's finest collection of Art Nouveau buildings to its impressive Stalinist skyscraper. Overnight stay at, for example, Wellton Hotel & Spa, close to the station and just a few minutes' walk from the Old Town.
Day 6
Travel by train from Riga to Tallinn, changing trains at the border in Valga. The Latvian train from Riga to Valga dates from the Soviet era but offers comfortable seating. At Valga, change to a modern Estonian train via Tartu to Tallinn. Overnight stay in Tallinn, for example at Hotel Go Shnelli, directly beside the railway station.
Day 7
Explore Tallinn, the third Baltic capital, where influences from Scandinavia, Russia and the Baltic States meet. Discover its beautifully preserved medieval Old Town, city walls and towers (UNESCO World Heritage Site), as well as its lively cafés, shops and creative districts. Overnight stay at, for example, Hotel Go Shnelli.
Day 8
In the morning, travel by ferry to Helsinki in just two hours, arriving right in the city centre. The rest of the day is free to discover the Finnish capital. Overnight stay in Helsinki.
Day 9
Board the Finnlines ferry to Lübeck. After departing Helsinki, the ferry sails through the beautiful Finnish archipelago.
Day 10
Spend the day at sea on the Baltic. Relax on deck, enjoy a meal in one of the restaurants or make use of the onboard sauna, included in your ticket. Arrival in Lübeck at around 9.00 pm, followed by a bus transfer to the city centre. Overnight stay at, for example, Hotel the niu Rig in the Hanseatic city of Lübeck.
Day 11
Travel by train via Hamburg to London or your preferred railway station in Great Britain by ICE and Eurostar.
