Dresden is very easily accessible by train, both by direct Intercity from Amsterdam, Amersfoort, Apeldoorn, Hengelo and Almelo and by ICE International from Amsterdam, Utrecht and Arnhem. This city was once called "Florence on the Elbe" because of all the beautiful buildings the city offered but was completely bombed in the Second World War.
The old buildings that remained were almost all demolished by the communists after the war. Luckily the "Florence on the Elbe" has been resurrecting since the Wende. After the fall of the Wall it´s decided to rebuild the historical center from before the war. This renovation has been very successful, giving the center a historical, baroque look again. The renovation is currently still a work in progress, but very well on its way of regaining its previous charme.

This high Baroque that was completely destroyed in the Second World War, but officially reopened in 2005 after a long renovating process.
Brühlsche Terrasse
A terrace along the Elbe of about 500 meters long and 10 meters high with beautiful views over the river.
Saxon Ständehaus
A landmark building in the old center of Dresden where today's court is located.
Public transport Dresden
Public transport in Dresden is excellent. All corners of the city, including the center, are easily accessible by bus, streetcar or s-Bahn.
