Day 1: Edinburgh - Keith

The Belmond Royal Scotsman leaves Edinburgh in the early afternoon. The train travels north and passes the beautiful bridge 'Forth Railway Brigde', which is also considered to be the eighth wonder of the world. Enjoying your afternoon tea, the Belmond Royal Scotsman continues its journey through the former kingdom of Fife and across the Tay Bridge. After passing the towns of Arbroath, Montrose and Aberdeen, you'll arrive in the market town of Keith. In the evening, enjoy an informal dinner followed by entertainment in the bar carriage. Overnight stay on board.

Day 2: Keith - Kyle of Lochalsh

After breakfast, the train heads west past Moray Firth to Inverness, the capital of the Highlands. Lunch on board will take you to Kyle of Lochalsh, one of the most beautiful train routes in Great Britain. In the picturesque village of Plockton you´ll leave the train. You can spot seals by boat or visit Eilean Donan Castle.

The castle is situated on an island, where three large lakes meet, surrounded by an impressive landscape. You can immerse yourself in the dramatic history of this 13th century castle. You´ll return by train at Kyle of Lochalsh. After the formal dinner you can have a nice drink in the bar carriage.

Day 3: Kyle of Lochalsh - Boat of Garden

During breakfast the train goes back to Dingwall. Get your camera ready for the beautiful view of Plockton on the left, located on the bay with whitewashed cottages and numerous fishing boats. In Garve you´ll visit Glen Ord Distillery, one of the oldest distilleries in Scotland, founded in 1838. You´ll get a guided tour where you´ll get a glimpse into the distillation methods that have been used for generations. Of course, you also get to taste.

Back on the train it continues south to Carrbridge where you disembark for a visit to the very romantic Ballindalloch Castle. You can join a tour of the building and its beautiful gardens or play golf on the castle's golf course. Today's destination is Boat of Garten. After the informal dinner a highlander will tell you colorful stories about Scottish heroes, which form the history of this region. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 4 Boat of Garden - Dundee

A luxury touring bus will take you this morning to Rothiemurchus Estate, located in the Cairngorms National Park. Here you can choose from various activities such as clay pigeon shooting, fishing or a guided tour of the impressive estate. You´ll board the train back in Kingussie. You can enjoy an extensive lunch on board while the train continues through Blair Atholl and Pitlochry.

In Dunkeld you´ll disembark for a private tour of Glamis Castle, the parental home of the late Queen Elizabeth, the Queen Mother. You´ll get back on the train at Perth where a formal dinner will be served during the journey to Dundee, today's destination. After dinner you can enjoy live music. Overnight stay in the train.
