Taste the atmosphere of this beautiful country aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman. This is travelling as it should be; luxurious, relaxed and full of new discoveries. During the trip there are regular stops for a visit to a nature reserve, churches, gardens, castles and country houses, where guests are often welcomed and shown around privately by the resident/owner. For these excursions use is made of the own comfortable coach that follows the train on its journey through Scotland. A train journey you´ll never forget.

Day 1: Edinburgh - Boat of Garten

In the early afternoon you´ll board the Belmond Royal Scotsman in Edinburgh. You'll have time to set up in your suite and get to know your fellow guests as the train travels northwards through the former Kingdom of Fife. This is followed by a scenic drive through the Scottish Highlands. Boat of Garten is the end point for this day. After the informal dinner there´s entertainment in the bar carriage. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 2: Boat of Garten - Dundee

Today you´ll visit Rothiemurchus Estate, a historic estate, where you´ll be guided by a nature guide. There´s also opportunity for clay pigeon shooting or fishing. Return to the train in Aviemore. In Carrbridge, leave the train for a visit to Culloden Battlefield, the place where the last great battle on British soil took place on April 16, 1746.

Listen to the Highlander, who´ll give you a clear picture of how this battle changed life in the Highlands forever. Enjoy a visit to Strathisla Distillery, one of the oldest working distilleries and home to one of Scotland's most famous malts, Chivas Regal. Formal dinner on board, followed by typical Scottish entertainment in the bar carriage. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 3 Dundee - Edinburgh

Enjoy the extensive breakfast while you leave Dundee behind. Arrival in Edinburgh in the morning. Your journey ends here with Belmond Royal Scotsman.
