Taste the atmosphere of this beautiful country aboard the Belmond Royal Scotsman. This is travelling as it should be; luxurious, relaxed and full of new discoveries. During the trip there are regular stops for a visit to a nature reserve, churches, gardens, castles and country houses, where guests are often welcomed and shown around privately by the resident/owner. Day 1: Edinburgh - Spean Bridge

In the early afternoon you´ll get to board the Belmond Royal Scotsman in Edinburgh. You´ll have time to settle into your suite and get to know your fellow guests as the train heads west. At Craigendoran, the West Highland Line begins. In the afternoon you´ll pass Loch Lomond and the waterfalls of Glen Falloch. Spean Bridge is the end point for this day. After the informal dinner, there´s entertainment in the bar carriage. Overnight stay on the train.

Day 2: Spean Bridge - Bridge of Orchy

The journey continues westwards via Fort William, where you´ve got a view of Ben Nevis, Britain's highest mountain. At Arisaig you´ll leave the train for a walk along the beautiful white beaches of Morar, with spectacular views of the Small Isles and the Cuillin Mountains of Isle of Skye. During lunch, the train returns via Fort William and Spean Bridge to Bridge of Orchy. A Highlander, a native of the Scottish Highlands, will take you to Glenfinnan Monument where he´ll tell you about the separation of the area, after which tea will be served at Inverlochy Castle. If you still have the energy, you can go for a walk to the impressive Steall Waterfull in Glen Nevis. Back on the train it´ll take you south to the small town of Bridge of Orchy. You can enjoy an informal dinner in the dining car. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 3 Bridge of Orchy - Isle of Bute - Kilmarnock.

Today's destination is the charming Isle of Bute. The island is rich in geology, history and a varied landscape. You´ll visit the beautiful country house Mount Stuart with its precious art and portrait gallery. Back on the mainland, a formal dinner awaits you while the train to Kilmarnock rides. Overnight stay in the train.

Day 4 Kilmarnock - Edinburgh

After breakfast the train leaves for Edinburgh where you´ll arrive in the morning. Here your journey ends with Belmond Royal Scotsman.
