Day 1: Pretoria
Today you´ll board 'the Pride of Africa' which will depart from the Rovos Rail station in Pretoria. The spacious air-conditioned compartments, the atmospheric restaurant carriage, the lounges and the cozy bar guarantee an unforgettable journey through the varied African landscape. The train follows the track towards the Drakensbergen.
Day 2: Kruger National Park
Early in the morning you´ll go on safari in the Kruger National Park, South Africa's largest national park, where all the animals of the 'Big Five' live in their natural habitat. You may come face to face with various antelope species, elephants, lions, giraffes, zebras, wildebeests and buffaloes and perhaps leopards. Lunch in the park. At the end of the afternoon you board the train in Malelane and head for Swaziland.
Day 3: Cunning ampholozi Park and Swaziland
Breakfast is served while the train heads towards Hluhluwe. In the afternoon you´ll visit the Hluhluwe-Imfolozi wildlife park for a safari trip. Both black and white rhinos live in this park. At the end of the afternoon the train direction Shakaskraal leaves. Enjoy the beautiful view while dining.
Day 4 and 5: Durban and Spy Head
In the morning of day 4, the train arrives in Durban. You´ll leave the train for a tour of the city and botanical gardens and enjoy lunch in Umhlanga, Durban. After lunch the journey continues via the "Valley of 1000 Hills" in KwaZulu-Natal to Ladysmith. In the morning of the fifth day you´ll visit Spionkop, where you´ll make a battlefields tour. Furthermore, there´s a game drive on the program. Lunch on the way. In the evening, the train heads for Kroonstad and crosses the Drakensbergen.
Day 6 and 7: Aboard the Pride of Africa and Addo Elephant Park.
Today you´ll have a relaxing day on board of the train, while the train heads towards the coast. Enjoy the beautiful views along the way, have a drink in the bar carriage or share your experiences with your fellow travelers. The next game park on day 7 of this trip is Addo Elephant Park. Also here a safari trip is made with open vehicles. In the park live not only elephants, but lions, leopards, buffaloes and rhinos as well. The train journey continues in the direction of Port Elizabeth and Willowmore.
Day 8: Oudtshoorn
Today you´ll make an excursion to Oudtshoorn, where the largest population of ostriches in the world lives. You´ll visit an ostrich farm. Then you´ll continue to George. Leave the train for a short drive to Fancourt Golf Estate, where you´ll enjoy a delicious dinner together with the golfers.
Day 9: Krysna and the Garden Route
The morning is at leisure in Knysna. Lovers can take a boat trip to Featherbed. After returning on the train, the journey continues via the Garden Route to Riversdale.
Day 10: Cape Town
You can spend the last day relaxing aboard the 'Pride of Africa' while the train crosses the Cape Fold Mountains. At the end of the afternoon, the train enters Cape Town's train station. Time to say goodbye to the train and its crew. After you arrive in Cape Town, you´ll be taken to the airport in the evening to fly home.
