All cheap train tickets

General
Domestic Dutch trains operate very frequent, at least every 60 minuts, every 30 minutes is more common and between the big cities even every 15 minutes. Reservation for domestic journeys is not possible, you can just hop on the train which suits you. About 80 Dutch stations are fenced with automatic gates, every ticket booked through Happyrail is supplied with a barcode which enables you to open these gates.

Catering
Onboard coffee, drinks and snacks on some main Intercity-routes selled by stewards going through the train, not available on other trains.

Wifi
Free wifi available on all Intercity-routes and regional routes operated by private railway companies (Arriva, Connexxion, Syntus).
 

Power sockets  
At all first class seats on Intercity services, also in second class on regional routes operated by private railway companies  (Arriva, Connexxion, Syntus).
 

Children
Children from 4 to 11 years travel for only €2,50 on domestic routes (bookable through Happyrail).
 

Dogs
Dogs are taken as long they are on a leash. Dogs carried in a bench or bag travel for free, bigger dogs pay a fixed fare of €3,10.
 

Luggage
No luggage limit on board of Dutch trains. Small luggage can be stowed in the overhead luggage racks or under your seat, for larger cases there is space between the seats in compartments with bays of 4 seats.
 

Boarding
No check-in needed, you can turn up at the station and board the train at any time before departure. 
 

Discount cards 
The Dutch "Dal-Voordeel"-card offers 40% discount outside the peak hours (Monday-Friday 06.30-09.00 and 16.00-18.30). Furthermore there are cards available for free travel outside the peak hours, in the weekends or all-day.  The Railplus-card gives you a 25% discount upon the international full fare.
 

Interrail / Eurail 
Interrail and Eurail are accepted on all Dutch services without supplement. Seat reservation is not possible, you can take any train which you like.

Business

The first class onboard Dutch trains offers a comfortable and quiet working sphere.  For first class tickets holders (with a value above €10) there are special lounges available at Amsterdam Central Station, Schiphol Airport and Rotterdam Central Station.
 

At the station
About 80 stations in the Netherlands are fenced off with automatic gates.  Any e-ticket from/to the Netherlands booked through Happyrail contains a barcode which enables you to open these gates at the wide gate with the "Scan-Ticket"-symbol (at least 1 gate per entrance is suitable for barcode-tickets). If you're travelling on a Interrail or Eurail Pass, the pass cover contains a barcode to open the gates.
