Travel through Andalusia by comfortable train, soak up the atmosphere of charming Andalusian towns surrounded by olive groves, and stay in unique Paradores.

Day by Day

Paradores

Paradores are unique hotels located in former monasteries, castles, palaces, haciendas and other architecturally significant historic buildings. They are operated by the Spanish government to preserve Spain's cultural heritage while offering guests an exceptional place to stay.

Day 1

Travel by Eurostar from London St Pancras to Paris Gare du Nord. Transfer by Metro to Gare de Lyon and continue by direct TGV to Barcelona.
Overnight stay at, for example, Hotel Abba Sants***, close to Barcelona Sants station, where the TGV from Paris arrives.

Day 2

Every morning at 7.40 am, the Torre del Oro departs from Barcelona Sants for Cádiz. This comfortable long-distance train crosses the eastern and southern regions of the Iberian Peninsula. Travel south along the Mediterranean coast to Valencia before heading inland through Spain's rugged landscapes. Leave the train at Linares-Baeza station and continue by taxi (approximately 20 minutes) to Úbeda, a charming Andalusian town overlooking endless olive groves. Its remarkable Renaissance monuments are listed as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The four-star Parador of Úbeda occupies a former palace on the town's main square, surrounded by magnificent churches and Renaissance buildings. The Parador features a beautiful courtyard and spacious rooms.

Day 3

In the morning, you may wish to visit nearby Baeza, just 10 km away, by scheduled bus or taxi. Early in the afternoon, continue by modern Media Distancia train to Jaén.
The four-star Parador of Jaén is located within the city's medieval castle and enjoys spectacular panoramic views. All rooms combine historic surroundings with modern comforts.
Jaén itself is a beautiful Andalusian city surrounded by Spain's largest olive-growing region.

Day 4

Depart around 7.30 am for Ronda, changing trains in Córdoba.
The four-star Parador of Ronda occupies the former town hall and enjoys a spectacular location beside the famous El Tajo Gorge and historic bridge. The dramatic Puente Nuevo connects the old and new parts of the town, while some of the finest views can be enjoyed from the Parador's terraces.

Day 5

Travel via Antequera by Media Distancia train and AVE high-speed train to Barcelona.
Overnight stay at, for example, Hotel Abba Sants***.
