All in all, it was a wonderful trip that went smoothly without many issues. De Treinreiswinkel arranged everything well, and the communication was good and pleasant. It turned out we were traveling with an Interrail pass instead of individual tickets, but after a short adjustment period, this actually proved to be very nice. For example, when the train from Venice to Munich turned out not to be running due to a strike. We were proactively called by De Treinreiswinkel offering to travel part of the journey by bus at their expense, and that proved to be an excellent solution. From Austria, we were able to continue our journey by train without having to buy a new ticket. Furthermore, we made all our connections. A transfer time of at least half an hour is recommended, though. It is also advisable to book extra days, as the transfer points of Basel and Munich are also worthwhile. We chose to travel only during the day because we didn't fancy sleeping on the train in a cramped cocoon or shared compartment. Hotel Tintoretto in Venice was quite mediocre, with a small room and a sagging double bed. Hotel Beatrice in Florence, on the other hand, was very pleasant. It would be nice, though, if there were a bit more choice in hotels. As a final tip, I would like to suggest that Florence and Venice are best visited during the low season, as it can be very crowded and hot there from June through September.
