Itinerary
Enjoy the best that Italy has to offer, and travel comfortably by rail. Fully adjustable package deal with comfortable Italian high-speed trains and classic hotels. With all tickets, daily guides and live support as you travel all in the Happyrail app, this will for sure be a trip to Italy to never forget!

Day 1 - arrive in Rome

Start your rail tour in Rome, where you stay in a modern hotel close to the train station. You have the option of transferring by train from the international airport (tickets included) or from another city or airport (available upon request against an extra fee).

Day 2 - Rome

Discover the legendary city of Rome. Visit historical highlights like the Colosseum and Sistine Chapel in Vatican City. Enjoy the authentic Italian cuisine in a small restaurant, at one of the many open-air markets, and at your local espresso bar. There is always something to do or see in this ancient and eternal city.

Day 3 - Florence

After breakfast, get seated on board the comfortable Frecciarossa High speed train that takes you to Florence in under 2 hours. You arrive in the late morning. Head to the hotel to drop off your luggage and spend the rest of the day exploring this amazing city that needs no introduction. Stay in a traditional hotel close to the train station.

Day 4 - Florence

Day off in Florence. There is almost too much to do and see here, from the bustling Renaissance-era squares to the legendary Uffizi gallery and the Ponte Vecchio. The city is very walkable, and all famous landmarks, monuments and museums are basically within touching distance. Don’t forget to stop along the way for a fresh espresso or authentic gelato ice cream!

Day 5 - to Riomaggiore

After breakfast, a local Italian train takes you in about 4 hours to Riomaggiore on the beautiful Cinque Terre coast. The railway along the Cinque Terre coast is beautiful and trains run very frequently, so feel free to take any train you like. You arrive around midday in Riomaggiore, where you take a short walk or taxi ride to the traditional Villa Argentina hotel. When this is not available, your stay is in an equally authentic hotel in nearby La Spezia, also on the Cinque Terre Express railway.

Day 6 - Cinque Terre

Day off to explore the Italian riviera. The fishing villages of the Cinque Terre coast capture the imagination with their vivid colored houses surrounded by cliffs and vineyards. Enjoy an authentic Italian lunch and dinner at one of the quaint restaurants higher up in the villages, or one of the grander establishments on the seaside. The villages are completely car-free. Either walk between the villages or take one of the frequent trains (unlimited train travel on this day is included in the rail tour).

Day 7 - to Rome

Have one last look at the beautiful pastel-colored through the windows of the comfortable Intercity-train, which takes you with one transfer to Rome. You arrive in the afternoon, and stay in a modern hotel close to the central train station.

Day 8 - return trip

Transfer by train from the city center back to the airport, tickets are included. Tickets to other cities or airports are available on request.

Do you want to take more time to explore Italy? Lengthen the tour to your wishes in our booking menu. Our rail experts would be happy to provide you with any expertise on day trips to other destinations during the tour.
