Arrive by train in the city centre and enjoy Italy at a relaxed pace.
Day 1
Travel by Eurostar from London to Paris, then continue by TGV to Basel. Overnight in a 3-star hotel near Basel SBB station, for example Hotel Metropol.
Day 2
In the morning, travel from Basel to Zurich before boarding the EuroCity train through the Alps to Milan. Continue by Frecciarossa high-speed train to Rome, arriving in the early evening. Stay in a 3-star hotel within walking distance of Roma Termini station, for example Hotel Palladium Palace.
Day 3
Free day in Rome. Like Italy's other great cities, Rome is best explored on foot. Monuments from Roman, medieval and modern times are all within easy reach.
Day 4
In the morning, travel by Frecciarossa high-speed train to Florence in just 1½ hours. Stay in a 3-star hotel in the city centre, for example Hotel Beatrice.
Day 5
Free day in Florence. Discover its many churches, museums, palaces and lively squares at your own pace.
Day 6
Depart in the morning via Bolzano and continue on the direct Railjet train to Munich, following a scenic route through the Italian and Austrian Alps via the Brenner Pass. Arrive in Munich in the late afternoon. Overnight in a 3-star hotel near the main railway station.
Day 7
Travel by TGV to Paris and continue to London by Eurostar.
