Day 1

Travel by Eurostar from London to Paris, then continue by TGV Lyria to Basel. Change to the InterCity train to Lucerne, followed by a scenic boat crossing on beautiful Lake Lucerne to Weggis. Take the cable car up to the car-free village of Rigi Kaltbad. Stay in a hotel with impressive views of the Swiss Alps.

Day 2

Travel by cog railway to Vitznau, then by boat across the southern part of Lake Lucerne to Flüelen. Continue on the Gotthard Panorama Express to Lugano in Mediterranean Ticino. Stay, for example, at Hotel Federale***.

Day 3

From Lugano, take a direct EuroCity train via Milan and along the southern shore of Lake Garda to romantic Verona. This beautiful and atmospheric city is famous for its Roman Arena, where opera performances are held in summer, its charming historic centre and Juliet's famous balcony.

Day 4

In the morning, travel by EuroCity train to Bolzano. Take the cable car over the vineyards to the pleasant village of Soprabolzano. From there, the historic Ritten Railway brings you to Hotel Lichtenstern in around 10 minutes. Enjoy the lovely garden and swimming pool with spectacular views of the Dolomites.

Day 5

Travel by mountain railway and cable car back via Bolzano to Merano. Continue on the recently reopened railway line to Malles, then by Swiss PostBus through the Swiss National Park to Zernez. From there, board the iconic red trains of the Rhaetian Railway to the peaceful mountain village of Bergün.

Please note: between 16 March and 28 May 2026, almost all facilities in Bergün are closed. During this period, you will stay in Chur instead of Bergün.

Day 6

Travel from Bergün on the UNESCO-listed Albula Railway, including the spectacular Landwasser Viaduct, via Chur to Zurich or Basel. Continue by TGV Lyria to Paris, then return to London by Eurostar.
