6-day rail tour

Day 1

Travel by Eurostar to Paris, then continue by TGV Lyria to Basel and on to Interlaken. From Interlaken Ost, travel to Lauterbrunnen in the Bernese Oberland, then by cable car and mountain railway to the car-free village of Mürren. Stay for two nights at Hotel Alpenblick, with fantastic views of the Eiger, Mönch and Jungfrau.

Day 2

Enjoy the peace and quiet of car-free Mürren or Wengen. Take a scenic walk, or travel by cable car to the Schilthorn or by train to the Jungfraujoch. These excursions can be added during the booking process.

Day 3

Travel from Mürren via Interlaken and over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne on modern panoramic trains. Continue by boat across Lake Lucerne to Vitznau, then by cog railway to car-free Rigi Kaltbad. Stay at Hotel Alpina*** at 1,400 metres above sea level. A ticket to continue by cog railway to the summit of Mount Rigi is included.

Day 4

Travel from Rigi Kaltbad to peaceful Braunwald.

Summer, late June to late September: around midday, travel to Vitznau and continue by boat across Lake Lucerne to Flüelen. From there, take the PostBus over the beautiful Klausen Pass from the canton of Uri to the canton of Glarus.

Outside summer: travel by cog railway to Arth-Goldau, then by Voralpen Express to Pfäffikon and onwards to Linthal.
From Linthal, take the funicular to Braunwald, a car-free sunny terrace in the Glarus Alps. Stay at Hotel Tödiblick***, with balcony rooms and superb views.

Day 5

Relax in Braunwald, one of Switzerland's most authentic car-free mountain villages.

Day 6

Travel by the Braunwald funicular to Linthal, then via Zurich to Basel. Continue by TGV Lyria to Paris and by Eurostar to London or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
