Day 1

Travel by Eurostar and TGV Lyria via Basel to Interlaken. The postbus then takes you, horn sounding, along a narrow road to Iseltwald, an authentic Swiss village on a peninsula in Lake Brienz. Stay at Hotel Strand***, directly on the lake, with a beautiful sun terrace.

Day 2

Stay in Iseltwald. Take an easy walk to the Giessbach Falls, make an excursion to the Brienzer Rothorn, or try one of the classic Swiss walks: from the Brienzer Rothorn to Brünig.

Day 3

The boat departs in front of the hotel to Brienz. Continue by train over the Brünig Pass to Lucerne. From here, travel by boat across Lake Lucerne to Vitznau and then by cogwheel railway to the car-free village of Rigi Kaltbad. Stay at, for example, Hotel Alpina*** at 1,450 metres above sea level.

Day 4

Stay in Rigi Kaltbad. For example, take an excursion to the summit of the Rigi or visit Lucerne.

Day 5

From Rigi Kaltbad, travel by cogwheel railway back to Vitznau and from there by boat to Flüelen. In Flüelen, board the Gotthard Panorama Express to Lugano. From here, continue by regional train to Locarno. Stay at Hotel Geranio Au Lac*** on Lake Maggiore.

Day 6

Stay in Locarno. For example, make an excursion to one of the nearby mountain valleys, Valle Maggia or Valle Verzasca, or take a boat trip on Lake Maggiore.

Day 7

Travel on the Centovalli Railway to Domodossola — sit on the left for the best views. Continue over the Simplon route to Montreux. Overnight stay in a hotel by Lake Geneva***.

Day 8

In the afternoon, travel along Lake Neuchâtel and via Lausanne and Geneva back by TGV Lyria and Eurostar to London, or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
