Travel on the Bernina Express
Stay in a cosy hotel in Bergün

Day 1
Travel by Eurostar and TGV Lyria via Basel and Chur to Bergün in Graubünden. Stay at, for example, Hotel Weisses Kreuz*** at 1,350 metres above sea level. The hotel is located just 400 metres from the Rhätische Bahn station, in the heart of an authentic Graubünden mountain village. It has a sunny terrace and offers excellent walking and excursion opportunities. You stay here for two nights.
(From mid-March until the end of May, most facilities in Bergün are closed. During this period – and when hotels in Bergün are fully booked – you will stay in Chur instead of Bergün.)
Day 2
Travel on the Bernina Express over the Bernina Pass, from eternal snow to the palm trees of the Italian town of Tirano. This UNESCO World Heritage railway is regarded by many as Europe's most beautiful railway line. There is time to enjoy an Italian lunch in Tirano before returning to Bergün.
Day 3
Travel on the Glacier Express from Bergün via Filisur to Zermatt.
Enjoy a fascinating journey through the Swiss Grand Canyon, across the Oberalp Pass and through the Goms Valley to Zermatt. The panoramic coaches offer magnificent and ever-changing Alpine scenery throughout the journey. Overnight stay in Zermatt (between December and March, accommodation may be in Täsch instead of Zermatt).
Day 4
Travel via Brig and the scenic Lötschberg route to Basel. Continue by TGV Lyria and Eurostar back to London, or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
5-day Rail Tour
