Day 1
Travel by Eurostar and TGV Lyria to Lausanne, beautifully situated on the shores of Lake Geneva. Stay for three nights in a comfortable hotel close to the station.
Day 2
Take the historic cogwheel railway to Rochers de Naye (2,042 m), offering spectacular views across Lake Geneva towards Mont Blanc, the Jungfrau and many other Alpine peaks. Visit the marmot park before returning to Montreux, where you can enjoy a stroll along the lakeside promenade.
Day 3
Optional Chocolate Train excursion. Travel from Montreux to Montbovon aboard a beautifully restored Belle Époque Pullman train. Continue by coach to Gruyères for a visit to the famous cheese dairy, followed by the Cailler chocolate factory in Broc, where a chocolate tasting is included.
Day 4
Travel on the spectacular GoldenPass Express to Interlaken. Thanks to the innovative variable-gauge technology, there is no need to change trains at Zweisimmen. Large panoramic windows provide magnificent views throughout the journey. In the afternoon, there is time for an optional excursion to Mürren, Harder Kulm or another nearby mountain destination. Overnight stay in Interlaken.
Day 5
Continue on the Luzern–Interlaken Express, another highlight of the GoldenPass route. The train passes crystal-clear lakes and climbs the Brünig Pass using rack-and-pinion sections before arriving in Lucerne. Stay overnight in a hotel near the station. In the afternoon, you may wish to take the optional Golden Round Trip to Mount Pilatus (2,023 m).
Day 6
Spend the morning exploring Lucerne, visiting the Swiss Museum of Transport or taking a cruise on Lake Lucerne. In the afternoon, return by TGV Lyria and Eurostar to London, or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
