Jungfraujoch: highest railway station in Europe (3,452m). Gornergrat: highest railway line with almost no tunnels and constantly magnificent views. And at the summit: a view over 29 mountain peaks higher than 4,000 m.
Day 1
Travel by Eurostar to Paris, then continue by TGV Lyria to Basel and on to Lucerne. Stay for two nights in a centrally located hotel in the beautiful old town.
Day 2
Free day in Lucerne. Take a boat trip on Lake Lucerne or an excursion to Mount Pilatus, Lucerne's 2,023-metre local mountain. The Golden Round Trip combines boat, cog railway, cable car and bus.
Day 3
Travel on the GoldenPass Line, using the Luzern–Interlaken Express, to Interlaken, beautifully situated between Lake Thun and Lake Brienz. The route passes Lake Sarnen and Lake Lungern before climbing by rack railway to the 1,003-metre Brünig Pass, then descending via Meiringen and along Lake Brienz to Interlaken. Stay for two nights in Interlaken.
Day 4
Excursion to the Jungfraujoch at 3,454 metres, the highest railway station in Europe. From the top, enjoy breathtaking views of the Aletsch Glacier, the longest glacier in the Alps.
Day 5
Travel via the scenic Lötschberg route and Brig to Zermatt. For the best views on the Lötschberg route, we recommend sitting on the right-hand side. Stay for two nights in Zermatt.
Day 6
Excursion by cog railway to the Gornergrat at 3,089 metres. From the summit, enjoy views of 29 peaks above 4,000 metres, including the Matterhorn, Dente Blanche, Monte Rosa and Dufourspitze. Three immense glaciers glisten in the distance.
Day 7
Board the Glacier Express, the slowest express train in the world, for one of Switzerland's most spectacular railway journeys. Travel over 291 bridges, through 91 tunnels and across the 2,033-metre Oberalp Pass. Stay overnight in St. Moritz.
Day 8
Return via Basel, Paris and Eurostar to London or your preferred railway station in Great Britain.
