How to book train tickets to Salzburg

How to travel by train to Salzburg

Travel to Salzburg from €19

The city of Salzburg is located on the Westbahn-railway, and are connected with the Railjet, ICE-trains and EuroNight-services to Germany. There are a few daily EuroCity-services from Frankfurt via Munich and Salzburg to Graz and Klagenfurt. Regional trains run from Munich to Salzburg and to Passau from Germany. 

Airport Connection

The following connections are available to get from the airport to the city center of Salzburg:
From Salzburg Airport: There are bus services from Salzburg Airport to the city center of Salzburg.
Bus line #2 (7 days a week) departs every 10 to 20 minutes and operates between Salzburg Hbf and the airport. It takes about approximately 20 minutes one way.
Bus line #27 (7 days a week) departs every 15 to 20 minutes and operates between Salzburg Hbf via Wals/Viehhausen to the airport. It takes about approximately 40 minutes one way.
Bus line #10 (Monday to Saturday) departs every 10 minutes from the airport directly to the city centre of Salzburg. It takes about approximately 15 minutes one way.  Costs for a single ticket are €2,50. For children up to 15 years old it is €1,30.

Single journeys and Day- or Week Travelcards: Paper single journey tickets are for sale at tobacco and ticket shops in Salzburg. If you are staying in Salzburg for a day or more you can buy the Salzburg Card. This is the cheapest option when you wish to travel much on the public transport. The Salzburg Card is available in 24, 48 and 72 hours.
